Bernardo Silva has been a mainstay in Manchester City’s midfield since signing with the club in 2017. The Portuguese international has made more than 200 appearances for the Citizens and was instrumental in their back-to-back Premier League titles in 2019/20,2021/22 and 2022/23.
Recently, Bernardo Silva was offered a contract extension by Manchester City, but reports suggest that the player is determined to leave the team. This raises questions of where he could potentially move to if he does decide to leave Manchester City. Here, we take a look at some of the possible destinations for Bernardo Silva and what each team can offer him.
One of the most likely potential suitors for Silva is Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The French giants are reported to 
have offered Italian international Gianluigi Donnarumma and midfielder Marco Veratti for Silva’s services. Both players could add quality and experience to an already impressive PSG side, but Silva himself appears to have his heart set on a move away from France and towards Spain.
Real Madrid have been mooted as a potential destination for Bernardo Silva, with manager Zinedine Zidane said to be an admirer of the player’s talents. In addition, reports suggest that Los Blancos may be willing to use Brazilian starlet Vinicius Junior plus cash as part of any deal for Silva. Real Madrid could certainly benefit from adding an established attacking midfielder like Bernardo Silva, with the side lacking creative spark at times this season.
Barcelona are another team who have been touted as possible suitors for Bernardo Silva. Manager Ronald Koeman is reportedly keen on bringing in changes this summer, especially in midfield – something that would make sense given Barcelona’s struggles earlier this season due largely to their lack of creativity going forward. Adding a proven talent such as Bernardo Silva would surely address this issue but it remains unclear how much Barcelona are willing or able to invest in such a transfer given their current financial constraints.
Finally, there is always the possibility that Manchester City will retain the services of Bernardo Silva beyond 2022/23 season – at least until they can find an adequate replacement for him. Manchester City jersey 2023/24 will certainly feature his name should he continue playing at Etihad Stadium over the next couple of seasons – although it remains unlikely due to his apparent desire to move abroad.
Ultimately, it seems highly unlikely that Bernardo Silva will remain with Manchester City beyond this summer; however, his final destination still remains up in the air with no clear frontrunner yet emerging from among Europe’s top clubs who all appear interested in acquiring his signature services either as soon as possible or when his contract expires with ManCity.
